Senator Gaines Responds To Governor Brown's 2017-2018 State Budget

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ted Gaines (R-El Dorado) today issued the following statement regarding Governor Brown’s 2017-2018 state budget proposal:

“The Sacramento Weir has opened for the first time in a decade, sending the gushing Sacramento River out into a floodplain because we haven’t built enough water storage to capture the desperately needed runoff. Our roads are disintegrating even though we had billions in surplus state revenue just last year. This is clear evidence that California needs to get its spending priorities straight.

“Instead we are squandering money on the ridiculous high speed rail and paying for sex changes for prisoners. Governor Brown should honor hardworking taxpayers by crafting a budget that pays down debt, protects the public and provides the people with the infrastructure they are already paying for.”
